Featuring Roald Dahl’s “Revolting Rhymes”, this is an event for all ages. Bring along your children and grandchildren to join the Magnard Ensemble and narrator Rebecca Kenny as they explore Roald Dahl’s stories through the mediums of spoken word, theatre, and live music.

Roald Dahl is one of the most significant literary figures of the twentieth century. His contribution to the fields of children’s literature, poetry and screenwriting are unparalleled, and his subversive, humorous and darkly clever tales continue to entertain and thrill children across the world.

The Magnard Ensemble have devised this project in partnership with composer Paul Patterson, approved by the Roald Dahl Literary Estate and Marvellous Children's Charity, and generously supported by the City Music Foundation. It was launched nationwide in 2016 to celebrate the centenary of Roald Dahl’s birth.

Revolting Rhymes and Marvellous Music family follow Roald Dahl’s original texts , except for “Little Red Riding Hood”, where the words have been adapted by Donald Sturrock. The concert is an hour long programme and includes the following poems:

Little Red Riding Hood

Dirty Beasts by Martin Butler

I. The Pig

II. The Tummy Beast

III. The Crocodile

Three Little Pigs

Featured on BBC Radio 3's 'In Tune' programme in September 2016, the Ensemble has delivered concerts and workshops at festivals and venues across the country including Wigmore Hall, the Forge Camden, National Centre for Early Music, Wells Cathedral School, the Hay, Thaxted and Aberystwyth festivals, as well as Repton School, Roald Dahl's alma mater. The Ensemble is delighted that the recording is now available from Orchid Classics and to order on iTunes and Amazon.

The artists CD and some Roald Dahl material will also be available from “Far from the Madding Crowd” in Linlithgow High Street.
