Chinese Pianist Jiayang Song (b. 1999) recently completed her Master of Music in Piano Performance at Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) under the tutelage of Aaron Shorr, Head of Keyboard. She was a recipient of the Saltire and RCS scholarships.
As a soloist, she was a finalist of Steinway Youth Piano Competition in Northeast China Region and multiple prize winner in international competitions— First First Prize in Jilin Academy Aural Competition 2013 Academy Award, Gold Award in the 8th Arts Festivals of International Adolescents in Hong Kong in 2014, Gold Award in Nanyang International Piano Academy Competition 2021. Most recently, she won Third Prize (Commended Prize) at RCS Concerto Competition in 2023.
As a collaborative performer, she clenched the Peter Lindsay Miller Prize for piano duo during her first year at RCS. She subsequently performed in RCS’s annual piano festival with her piano duo together with the ballet department. She remains an active accompanist and chamber musician where she collaborates with singers, choruses and trio.
During the summer of 2022, she studied with Professor Christopher Hinterhuber, current Head of Keyboard of University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna at the International Summer Academy in Salzburg. She has also been coached by Dina Parakhina, Andreas Weber, William Fong and Steven Osborne.
