Vox Duo is an independent collaboration founded in 2018 between Scottish soprano Karla Anne Grant and British- Brazilian mezzo soprano Julia Martins Solomon both under the tutelage of Wilma MacDougall. Both are completing their postgraduate studies at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in June 2022, having both gained a First-Class Honours Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance in 2020 also at the RCS.

Praised for their blend of voices, Vox Duo have worked in close collaboration with classical pianists to present recitals of German lieder, French mélodie, Italian, English and Scots song, as well as oratorio, opera, and operetta. Vox Duo are versatile artists who enjoy exploring a range of musical genres and performance settings. They have performed across the UK in their own Vox Duo concert series, and by invitation at the Glasgow Art Club and Kodàly Erasmus+ Event in The National Piping Centre.

Vox Duo were proud to join Live Music Now Scotland in 2020. Together with Live Music Now they have performed for the Saughtonhall Women’s Union and Live Music Now Scotland’s ‘At Home’ series. Most recently, Vox Duo recorded a Christmas concert as part of Live Music Now Scotland for the National Galleries of Scotland in the Great Hall in the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.

In 2021 Vox Duo began an exciting new venture collaborating with the Earthtones Trio, recording new compositions by composer Euan Stevenson. In December 2021, Vox Duo released a recording of a new composition with Earthtones Trio, which has been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour. Vox Duo now work with iOcco Music as iOcco Music Artists.

Upcoming engagements include singing in the Wellington Concert series in June 2022 and projects with iOcco music and Euan Stevenson.
